The aerostation has made an essential contribution to the success of military operations. A priori, one would think that the plane, due to the mobility of the device and its ability to fly over the targets, offered even better aerial observations conditions. However, it is stillness, also relative, of kites observation which was its main advantage, providing:

- Continuity of observation,
- Immediate and direct transmission of information via the telephone communication with the ground.
